Mookkannoor Panchayath was formed in 1969 and its populationis around 22000. there many ancient cultural evidences found in this panchayath like walking steps, Boundary walks, Giant clay vessels, cages, Koottala Devi Temple . The main occupation is paddy cultivation. Rubber and coconut are major crops in this panchayath. There are many vocational institutions like Balanagar ITC, Federal Institute and Technology and Lisee Nursing School. Mookkannoor is a well reputed institution.
